Based, full name Base Democratica, is an Italian movement for direct democracy. Its founder asked me to give it a logo.

I made it based:

No extant political parties in Italy use the color orange.

Logo concept for MoneroDice

As part of my work for MoneroDice, I was asked to make a logo for the site: “something very simple, based on the Monero logo”.

I started coming up with ideas:

And then designed this prototype:

It even has a little Easter egg: the Monero logo is put in place of the number 3. Three sounding just like free, which Monero helps us become.

But it did not scale down well as a favicon. So I simplified it:

But this version was kind of boring. It needed a special something.

So I turned it by 6 degrees, making the die land in a much more natural position:

This one worked great as a favicon:

However, the client felt that this logo did not have enough in common with the Monero logo, orange beïng their only shared trait.

The client then made their own, building upon the 6° angle and rounded corners from mine:

Logo concept for the 50th anniversary of Sergio Ramelli’s death

In July, I participated in a design competition for a logo commemorating the 50th anniversary of anti-communist student Sergio Ramelli’s death.

The requirements for the design were the following:

usable on letterhead, posters, billboards, panels, and other formats;
adaptable to social media profile pictures (FB, Insta, X, Telegram, WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn);
can be turned into a banner for social media (FB, YouTube, LinkedIn) and the home page of the official website sergioramelli.it

Process

I started with simple, text-based banners:

Then I experimented with the pictures provided by the competition’s organiser:

What if I combine the number 50 with his picture?

The number 50 looks like goggles when in black-and-white. I’ll try to change that.

Turned the thing into a banner:

And once more. Nah, I can’t do much to stop the overlaid 50 from looking like goggles:

I did not win. Another good design did:

I will note that it has an issue which I was careful to avoid in mine: slapping “1975–2025” without context makes it seem like the guy was born in 1975 and is about to have a birthday anniversary.

Merceneros visual identity

Merceneros is a coöperative offering technical services to the Monero economy.

I designed its visual identity based on the trope of programming, having the colors allude to Monero:

This design is super-universal — the list of values in brackets varies with context, and will expand with the group offering more services:

Also, this visual identity needs no special graphics for implementation — only the JetBrains Mono typeface.

Here it is in the chats. The second logo is an internal one, with a caret instead of a bracket:

I went from start to finish in less than a day.
